Earth Summit Activity

1. United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED), also known as Earth Summit is an organization of nature experts that come together once every year and discuss what is good for our planet. 2.The United Nations (UN) organized Earth Summit. 3.The first earth summit was held in Rio, Brazil in 1992. 4.In South Africa. 5.The most recent earth summit was held in Durban, august 2011 6.The purpose of the earth summit is to create new ways of generating energy with sustainable resources and to protect the earth and looking after it. 7.The most important decisions made by the earth summit is the koyoto protocol. 8.I think it is necessary because we need to find ways to look after our earth and use resources in a way that they are sustainable, otherwise we could run out of resources and then there would be wars and other crisis’s. 9.Since the Earth Summit in Rio, the government has tried to find new ways of helping the environment. Also Agenda 21 is still a powerful long-term goal for balancing economic and social needs with the capacity of the earth’s resources and ecosystems. 10.Sustainable development is linked with Earth Summit because in order to keep resources on earth without them running out, we need to use them in a sustainable way so the earth still has that resource for its own natural needs, like trees provide oxygen during the day and water is one of the most important resources, so if we use resources in a sustainable way, it will be better for the earth.

Activity 6: The Holocaust

Activity 6

1.    The Holocaust refers to the deliberate, systematic, planned murder of the Jews in Europe.

2.  The Germans wanted to kill large numbers of innocent people because they were non-Aryans. For example the Jews and colored people.

3.  At first the German army had the Einsatzgruppen they were known as the special action groups or the killing squads. They carried out the genocide but the government soon realized that this was ineffective and too slow and also they were known for their heavy drinking. Then the German generals came invented the gas showers to kill large numbers of people at once. This was very effective and wasn’t expensive.

4.  When WOII came to an end all the concentration camps were set free by the allies. When all the people in the concentration camps were set free they didn’t have anything no money, no housing, no clothes, no nothing. The world was very angry at Germany after WOII because of everything they had done. Economically Germany was at its worst because everything had been bombed by the allies.
